Transport FLM (First Line Manager)

As a leadership position the Transport FLM is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and effective execution of the transport function. Collaborating with key colleagues within the team is vital in providing a first-class service whilst maintaining standards of performance. With a team of transport assistants covering night and day shift operations the FLM ensures accurate briefing, debriefing, and tracking of drivers, resourcing, and plan execution in a cost-effective manner.
In this role you are accountable for:
Ensuring that all operational processes are complied with as determined by the transport supervisor,
included but not limited to, planning, execution, tracking, performance reporting, accident reporting,
driver training, transport assistant training and POD management.
Ensuring effective communications and data integrity across all shifts to maintain a smooth flow of
information across all shifts.
Collaboration with the transport supervisor, ensuring maximum fleet availability at all times.
Acting as a first point of investigation, counselling and discipline for all drivers and your team of transport
assistants covering their performance, attendance and legal compliance in line with all policies.
Proactively working with suppliers to ensure that all agency driver requirements are met, that fuel is
maintained at an acceptable level and that fleet availability requirements are met.
Ensuring that any cost deviation from the plan and budget is fully explained in detail. This will include
variances to customer requirements and plans, driver performance and fuel economy/performance.
Engaging in a process of performance development for your team of transport assistants, providing access to courses, mentorship and guidance where appropriate.
