Role: Bench Hand Toolmaker (Afternoon Shift)
Pay: £26,620 - £38,720 per annum
Hours: Mon-Thurs 3.30pm to 1.30am

A successful, family-owned company established in Birmingham over 150 years ago. They specialise in the design and manufacture of tools and components for many industries including IT, Automotive, Medical and Telecommunications. 

The Role:
For the role of Bench Hand Toolmaker you will

• Build and develop new press tools through all stages and providing feedback into designs to update and improve technical drawings and documentation.
• Producing new tools, repairs and maintenance to pre-determined standard times and estimates.
• Using recognised problem-solving techniques to analyse tool problems.
• Strip and rebuild tools for maintenance, repair, and re-grind
• Organising logistics for spares / repairs.
• Analysis and actioning of tool problems in production.
• Management of the tool try-out process.
• Mentoring of trainees and apprentices
• Promoting and utilising the company's health and safety requirements
• Championing the use of appropriate PPE.
• Promoting and striving to improve 5s standards
• Controlling product quality on shifts
• Supporting tool setter on shifts

• Apprentice trained
• Have an appropriate craft or technician qualification
• Flexible, adaptable, and multi-skilled
• Have good communication, planning and scheduling skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to read, translate and feedback technical information
• Good numeracy and literacy skills

• Ability to work successfully on own initiative
• Previous high volume press tool making experience
