How to find a training provider/course

Training providers: private sector providers

There are thousands of private sector training providers, many offering courses that sound as if they could benefit your people and your business. To find these providers you could search the Internet, for example, by putting "marketing training", or "IT training" into a search engine. You could consult business directories or even look in the Yellow Pages.

To find a provider that best meets your needs, it can help to narrow your search down from the beginning. To find suitable names and draw up a shortlist, you may find it helpful to:

  • attend HR and training exhibitions
  • consult your trade press or professional journals
  • check if your suppliers offer specific training on, for example, the IT they have provided
  • seek recommendations from business organisations and business contacts
  • ask your trade or professional body if they give approval or accreditation to any providers
  • check if your local Business Link recommends any particular providers

When you have drawn up your shortlist you can then explore how each meets your business' particular needs.
